FAQS

What is the best way to burn your candles?

Great question! As all our candles are especially handmade with love and effort for you, they deserve to be treated with love too. That’s why we have some ‘burning instructions’ printed on our packaging. These instructions are :

  • The first time you burn your candle make sure to wait 2 hours OR until the wax pool liquefies to the edge of your glass. Once the wax pool is completely melted on the top, then you can blow out your candle
  • Burn within sight : Never leave a burning candle unattended
  • Keep away from flammable items: Ensure candles are placed away from anything that can catch fire
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets
  • Trim wick to approx ¾ cm before lighting: Always trim the wick before each use to ensure a safe burn
  • Burn on heat resistant surface
  • Keep candles away from drafts: This prevents uneven burning and soot
  • Don’t burn for more than 4 hours at a time: Extinguish the candle after 4 hours and allow it to cool before relighting

Why do you use soy wax for your candles and not parrafine or a combination?

We ONLY work with 100% soy wax! We don't use wax blends of any kind. SOLELY soy!
When it comes to sustainability, soy wax has a clear advantage. It is a sustainable option because it is renewable and comes from plants. In addition, burning soy candles does not cause harmful emissions to air quality, unlike paraffin, which can produce carbon dioxide and particulate matter.
Soy wax burns more evenly and produce less soot!
Parrafine is used a lot because it is cheaper. But we refuse to work with Paraffin wax! Why? SIMPLE! Paraffin is the product of the oil purification process from petroleum, coal or oil shale! When you remove the waxy substance from crude oil, you're left paraffin wax! I know.... YUCK right?!

Are soy candles just as strong as parrafin candles?

Soy candles might take a little longer to produce its full scent throw into the air because they don’t have all chemicals in it to push that scent out in a short time. However when a soy candle has reached a full melt pool and the scent fills the air in the room, it is there to stay! The smell will even linger for hours after blowing out. That’s why we only want all natural soy for our candles.

When I place an order, how long will it take before I receive the candles?

We want you to feel the joy of receiving our candles yourself, or sending it to a friend to show your gratitude about the friendship as soon as possible. It is good to know and understand however that each candle will be made and poured with our own hands. No machinery here! Just love and friendship to produce it for you. After you place your order it will take 2 – 5 days maximum for us to produce it and send it to you or your beloved friend.

What is the burning time of your candles?

You give yourself (Self-Love) or your beloved friends/family a valuable unique gift that will fill the air with great warm and deep scents for approximately 30 hours.

I notice signs of shrinkage on the candle, or the surface is not perfectly even. How is that possible?

All our candles are handmade and hand poured. No machinery here!
Because we use natural soy wax that is naturally softer than wax with paraffin, the shape may change slightly during transport. However, this does not affect the quality or performance of the candle. When you place and light the candle, the difference in shape will no longer be noticeable and you can fully enjoy the unique scent experience.
Due to the solidification of molten wax, some level of shrinkage can occur.
Embrace this! You got yourself a unique candle all handmade with love for you!

What wicks do you use for your candles?

We only use 100% cotton wicks. We will never use lead wicks for our candles! Why? Great question!
Lead wicks are full of just that, lead! A lot of candles are made with lead wicks because they help the wick to stand up straighter and helps it burn longer. However, the problem is that the lead vaporizes into the air when its burned where it can be inhaled, YUCK!!!
Soy wax burns longer and cleaner anyway!

Why don’t you use solely essential oils for your candles?

Essential oils can become toxic once heated to a certain temperature, which they absolutely will reach high temps in the candle making process as well as in the candle burning process. Essential oils are only intended to be inhaled for certain periods of time and can have some yucky effects if inhaled for too long! So while the idea of have a candle made of ONLY essential oils sounds great, it isn't always the best!
Although our candles aren't made from solely essential oils, we only source from the BEST suppliers!

Do you also make custom made fragrances/candles?

We certainly do!
Please remember that this is a process that takes time because we only want the best and will not settle for less. Requested scents are specially developed and of course require a minimum purchase quantity. This is also due to the fact that a specially developed fragrance requires several of the best raw materials to create the perfect composition.

Do you also deliver outside Holland?

We don’t at this moment. We are just two friends who make our candles ourselves and hope we can emphasize the importance of friendship, loved ones and self-love. As there are plenty enough friends in Holland to join our community of friends, and we only have limited production capacity, we will limit ourselves to Holland for the time being.
